How to Play the Straight and 20-Spot Keno Tickets

When you play keno in land-based casinos or among friends in a keno lounge you get to play the game using keno tickets. You won't have to deal with keno tickets if you play the game online but since you're playing the game offline then you should understand how to use keno tickets.

No doubt, there'll be several different kinds of keno tickets you'll find. The two most common ones are the Straight Ticket and the 20-Spot Ticket. Both will be quite similar and a good place to start when you're still learning the rudiments of playing keno. We'll teach you how to fill out both the Straight Ticket and the 20-Spot Ticket in our discussion below.

Walk into a keno lounge and what do you see? A bunch of friends having fun looking out to see what numbers pull up in their keno game. Keno communities are fun to join. So what are the steps we take to join in on the fun of a keno game?

Joining a keno game is simple enough, all you have to do is go to the keno counter and get yourself a ticket. We'll start with a Straight Ticket so you better get that one first. After obtaining a blank Straight Ticket here's what you do next. Take the crayon (this usually comes along with the tickets) and mark the numbers you would like to bet on. You'll mostly be allowed to pick up to 15 numbers if you're playing a Straight Ticket. One good tip before you start marking numbers is to check out the casino's pamphlet. This way you can decide how much you're going to get (i.e. the payoffs) and the maximum amount of numbers you can pick in a ticket.

Next, put the amount you like to bet on the upper right corner of a Straight Ticket. The amount of the wager you can write on a keno ticket will vary from casino to casino. There are casinos that allow one dollar or two dollar minimum bets on a keno ticket. The amount you place on your keno ticket covers all the numbers you chose, that means the size of your wager doesn't change depending on the numbers you pick.

Now you can go to the counter, submit your keno ticket, pay your wager, and get a receipt. After all numbers are drawn you go back to the counter and show them the receipt. The casino employee will take your receipt and give you your winnings.

The 20-Spot Ticket will also work the same way. The difference is that you get to pick 20 numbers from your 20-Spot ticket. Other than the amount of your bet, write the number 20 on the upper right corner of your 20-Spot Ticket.

That's how you fill out a Straight Ticket and a 20-Spot Ticket. It's simple and straightforward and gives you more time to enjoy the game.
